Puerto de Las Palomas is a paved mountain pass connecting the mountain towns of Grazalema and Zahara de las Sierra, both of which are recognised as two of the most beautiful towns in Spain.
The Easy to Moderate version of this ride starts at the top of Grazalema with views looking down on the town, missing the first part of the ascent, leaving a 4 km climb to Las Palomas Pass.
Once you have reached Las Palomas Pass, you will have reached the highest point of the route and the uphill section complete.
From Las Palomas, you will descend gradually through the Grazalema Natural Park for 18km passing through the town of Zahara de las Sierra, the local dam and into Algodonales where your route will finish.
The route passes 9 'Miradores' which are viewpoints of interest and it has been designed for you to take in the breathtaking views from height. It is important to consider this route is on fully paved roads but you will reach a height of over 1100m above sea level.
Concerned about the heights? Maybe our Via Verde route will be more suitable.
